CAREER DEVELOPMENT

The challenges facing sharks are many, and seemingly overwhelming. More than 100 million are slaughtered every year for their fins, whilst climate change is dramatically disrupting the oceanic ecosystem and food chain.

The Shark Research Unit believes that conducting strategic long-term and short-term shark research projects can inform and guide management and conservation policies of South Africa’s governing authority. Thereby ensuring the sustainability of South Africa’s shark species.
